1. Purpose
These Playlist Promotion Guidelines set out the standards that partnered charities must follow when promoting playlists created by StreamForGood Ltd.
Our goal is to generate charitable revenue through genuine, organic music streaming, ensuring full compliance with streaming platform policies and maintaining long-term sustainability.
2. Acceptable Promotion
Charities are encouraged to promote playlists in a positive, transparent, and engaging way.
Examples of acceptable messaging:
- “We’ve partnered with StreamForGood. Listen to our playlist to support our charity.”
- “Take on the challenge and listen to our playlist each day this month.”
- “Hit play on our playlist and share it with family and friends.”
- “If 2,000 people listen every day for one month, we could raise over £3,000 for our charity.”
All messaging must reflect realistic outcomes and must not mislead supporters about how revenue is generated.
3. Prohibited Behaviour
To comply with streaming platform rules, charities MUST NOT:
- Encourage supporters to loop playlists repeatedly or artificially inflate streams
- Encourage listening on mute or with no active engagement
- Encourage listening while sleeping or unattended playback
- Promote continuous or excessive streaming behaviour designed to manipulate payouts
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to generate streams
4. Incentivisation Restrictions
Charities MUST NOT:
- Offer rewards, prizes, or incentives based on streaming volume
- Run competitions that require streaming as a condition of entry
- Encourage behaviour that prioritises volume over genuine listening
5. Transparency & Representation
All promotional content must be clear and accurate.
- Streaming does not equal a fixed donation amount per play
- Revenue generated may vary depending on platform payouts and listener activity
- Any fundraising projections must be reasonable and not misleading
6. Tone & Brand Alignment
All communications should:
- Be positive, respectful, and aligned with the charity’s mission
- Avoid manipulative or pressure-based messaging
- Encourage genuine enjoyment of the music
7. Compliance & Enforcement
StreamForGood Ltd reserves the right to monitor promotional activity to ensure compliance with these guidelines.
If a charity breaches these guidelines, we may:
- Request removal or amendment of promotional content
- Suspend or terminate the partnership
- Remove or reassign associated playlists
8. Platform Risk
Streaming platforms actively monitor for artificial or manipulative behaviour.
Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in:
- Playlist removal or suppression
- Loss of streaming revenue
- Damage to the reputation of both the charity and StreamForGood Ltd
9. Guiding Principle
If a promotion encourages behaviour that appears to manipulate streaming systems rather than encourage genuine listening, it should not be used.
